About Us

The Mary Gray Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization that was created to carry on the legacy of service to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and related conditions that began for the Gray family over 50 years ago when Doc and Mary Gray started working with these extraordinary people at State Schools in Texas. The Gray family was blessed to serve as an IDD private provider in Texas for almost 40 years when we recognized the need for additional support, beyond the State provided services, that would allow for a more full and integrated community life for the extraordinary people that we encounter every day.

It is our goal to provide access to community events and programs that enrich these individuals' lives; from providing access to professional sporting and music events to day programs and songwriting workshops and subsidized camp experiences. It is our joy to engage each individual and discover what passion provides for a more meaningful life and to strive to meet that need.

In addition to providing exceptional life experiences, the Mary Gray Foundation acts as a voice to advocate for these individuals throughout Texas by bringing to the forefront the challenges they face by underfunded programs in this state. After years of interactions with the State of Texas we understand the challenges of having your voice heard in a crowded forum. It is our goal to advocate from a place of knowledge of the system to bring real change to the programs that serve this population of extraordinary people to ensure their health and safety remain a priority.

The Mary Gray Foundation's mission is to enrich the lives of and advocate for extraordinary people served in IDD programs throughout Texas by providing opportunities to have meaningful experiences in the community that are otherwise limited by the funding of Medicaid programs.
